Acoustical Ceiling Installation in Western Washington
A suspended ceiling is a service access panel as much as it is a ceiling. Solis Interiors installs acoustical grid and tile ceilings across Lacey, Olympia, and Tacoma, laid out around the lights, diffusers, and sprinkler heads already in the room.
Request an estimateA suspended ceiling earns its place where access matters
The reason to hang a grid rather than finish gypsum is what sits above it. Plumbing, ductwork, wiring, and sprinkler lines all need to stay reachable, and a lay-in ceiling lets a panel come out in seconds instead of a wall or ceiling being cut open. In a basement, an office, a shop, or a tenant improvement that access is usually the deciding factor. In a home's main living space, a finished gypsum ceiling is often the better answer, and we will say so.
The grid lines up with everything else in the room
A grid that is level but out of square shows up immediately at the border tiles. We set the wall angle at a consistent height around the room, square the main tees to the space, and plan the tile layout so the border runs match on opposite walls. Lights, air diffusers, and sprinkler heads then get placed so nothing lands on a tee, because moving one of them afterward means opening the grid again.
The plenum above is the point of the ceiling
Everything above the grid has to remain serviceable. We set the grid height to leave the clearance the equipment above needs, keep the panels lifting cleanly rather than wedged, and leave the layout documented so the next person who takes a tile out knows what they are looking at.
Frequently asked questions
Questions & expert answers
Q1Do you install the lights and the sprinkler heads?▼
No. The grid and the tiles are ours. An electrician makes the fixture connections and a sprinkler contractor sets and certifies the heads. We coordinate the positions, cut and fit the tiles accurately around each one, and sequence our work so the trades are not opening the same ceiling twice.
Q2How is an acoustical ceiling braced?▼
To the approved drawings. Seismic bracing, attachment spacing, and the specified ceiling system are set by the designer and enforced by the local authority, and we install to that rather than deciding it. We do not certify a rating or a load; the approved documents and the inspector control the requirement, and we scope and coordinate the ceiling work inside it.

The process
Planning an acoustical ceiling installation?
A short path from the first description of the problem to a clear next step.
Step 1 — Share the ceiling layout
Include room dimensions, ceiling or project plans if available, and the locations of existing lights, diffusers, sprinklers, or access points.
Step 2 — Choose access and finish priorities
A removable grid can preserve above-ceiling access; a finished gypsum ceiling creates a different surface. Identify which matters for the room and include any specified system or drawings.
Step 3 — Coordinate fixture and scope boundaries
List planned changes to lights, HVAC, or sprinkler components so the appropriate trades can handle their parts and the ceiling scope can be discussed around them.
