Suspended acoustic ceilings for Tacoma spaces

We offer acoustic ceiling installation in Tacoma, hanging suspended grid and lay-in tile in commercial tenant spaces. A tile ceiling and an acoustic drywall ceiling are different systems, and neither carries a sound rating unless the full approved design does.

Choose a ceiling that fits the room and access above it

A removable grid and a finished gypsum ceiling serve different room needs. Lights, diffusers, sprinklers, and access points shape the layout, and they can be harder to reach if the ceiling is installed without them in view.

Solis installs the selected ceiling system around the room plans and listed fixtures. A removable grid can preserve above-ceiling access; a gypsum ceiling creates a different finished surface. The chosen system carries through the layout with openings and access points accounted for.

  • Ceiling type matched to the room's access needs.
  • Fixture openings carried into the ceiling layout.

Here’s how we get it handled

  1. Text us photos or call

A close-up, a wider view and your city give us a useful starting point. You can also call and talk through the work.

  2. Agree the scope and schedule

We review the work with you, arrange a site visit where needed and put the agreed scope and finish in your estimate.

  3. Get the space finished

Half of Tacoma's homes were built before 1967 and half after. New walls in an existing home are finished to meet what is already there, so the home's age shapes the finish plan. U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024, median year structure built

Choose the ceiling system from the room plan

We start from the reflected ceiling plan: suspended grid with removable tiles, a direct-applied ceiling, or another system. Room size, wall edges, the light and diffuser layout, access panels and changes in height set where the grid lands and how big the border tiles are.

Keep ceiling tile separate from acoustic drywall

Tile and acoustic drywall are built differently. A suspended ceiling gives you access to the space above, while a rated acoustic ceiling may also depend on the structure above, the perimeter and penetrations. We price the system named in the plans and don't put a number on it ourselves.

Coordinate fixtures and service access

Lights, diffusers, sprinkler heads, smoke detectors and access panels decide where tiles get cut. We work from coordinated drawings and agree who supports each fixture. In a tenant buildout the grid usually goes in after the mechanical and electrical rough-in passes inspection.

Tenant spaces downtown and near the Port

For tenant buildouts downtown or near the Port of Tacoma, send the reflected ceiling plan, room areas, tile and grid selection, fixture layout and any assembly details. Areas with a different ceiling get their own line.

Acoustic Ceiling Installation questions in Tacoma

Are acoustic ceiling tiles the same as acoustic drywall?

No. Tile sits in a suspended grid, and acoustic drywall is part of a built wall or ceiling assembly. Your plans will say which one the space gets.

Can an acoustic ceiling guarantee a specific STC or IIC?

No. Ratings belong to complete tested assemblies, and we only cite values shown in the approved documents.
