Get the damaged drywall back into a finished room
Holes, cracks, and damaged board interrupt the room. Filling the opening is only part of the job; the repair also has to meet the surrounding wall and its existing texture before paint goes on.
Solis repairs damaged drywall, then carries the same area through texture matching and paint preparation. That connects board repair to the surrounding finish and gives the room a clear path from damaged wall back to its painted surface.
- Damaged board repaired with the surrounding surface in view.
- Texture and paint preparation carried with the repair.
“It was a 5*5 drywall repair which needs insulation, install new drywall, and then paint it. Job done nicely!”

A small repair and a permitted repair are not the same thing
Lacey's code requires a permit to construct, enlarge, repair, alter, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building, and the city publishes a separate work-exempt list covering painting, papering, tiling, and similar finish work, while noting that exempt work still has to meet setbacks and other applicable requirements. A patched wall usually falls on the first side of that line and a repainted one on the second, but the line is not ours to draw: approved plans and the local authority determine the requirement, and we scope the listed drywall work and coordinate the relevant handoff.
Common questions
What a wall fails from depends on when it was built
Yelm's median house dates to 2004 and 59.5% of its stock went up between 2000 and 2019, so repairs there are usually movement rather than damage: truss uplift at interior partitions, fastener pops at ceiling corners, and hairline cracks at board joints as the framing dries and the seasons swing. Centralia is the opposite profile, with 22.7% of its 8,121 units predating 1940, where the call is more often a cracked plaster field or a patch laid over an earlier patch. Reading what is already underneath is the part that decides the repair.
How do you repair holes and cracks so the patch remains invisible?
Making a drywall patch invisible requires solid backing, beveled joint edges, high-tensile fiberglass or paper tape bedded in setting compound, and feathering the finish compound 10 to 14 inches outward. This gradual taper prevents the repair from reading as a raised hump under natural light.
How do we prevent settling and stress cracks from returning?
Western Washington humidity fluctuations cause wooden framing studs to expand and contract seasonally, stressing drywall joints above door frames and windows. Solis Interiors reinforces stress zones with high-tensile mesh and low-shrinkage chemical-setting compound, creating a flexible, crack-resistant bridge across moving framing.
When is a wall patch honest vs. when to replace the panel?
If a wall has extensive impact fractures, multiple failed legacy patches, or widespread water softening, adding more compound creates an uneven wall. In those cases, we honestly price hanging a fresh gypsum panel, saving labor and delivering a flatter surface.
