Level 5 skim for Chehalis walls in strong light

We apply Level 5 drywall finish in Chehalis, a thin skim over the whole board on top of the Level 4 joint and fastener work, for walls and ceilings where side light would show anything less.

Keep strong light from exaggerating wall transitions

Side light and a glossy sheen can reveal seams or uneven patches across a smooth wall or ceiling. A repair in one spot may not address how the broader surface looks when light travels across it.

For Level 5, Solis applies a full-surface skim with the room lighting and paint sheen in view. Treating the surface as a field carries the finish across the area instead of leaving one isolated patch to define the wall.

  • A full-surface skim across the selected area.
  • A finish chosen with room light and paint sheen in view.

Here’s how we get it handled

  1. Text us photos or call

A close-up, a wider view and your city give us a useful starting point. You can also call and talk through the work.

  2. Agree the scope and schedule

We review the work with you, arrange a site visit where needed and put the agreed scope and finish in your estimate.

  3. Get the space finished

Solis completes the agreed work and reviews the finish with you. Include interior painting in the scope for a complete drywall-and-paint handoff.

1965Median year Chehalis homes were built

Half of Chehalis's homes were built before 1965 and half after. The estimate is wide here, about 7 years either way. New walls in an existing home are finished to meet what is already there, so the home's age shapes the finish plan. U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024, median year structure built

Understand the full-panel skim

Level 5 starts from the Level 4 treatment of joints, corners and fasteners and then skims the entire face, so the work covers every square foot of board along with the seams. When a room has more than one wall or ceiling condition, the plans or finish schedule should say which surfaces get it.

Set the appearance with the room's light and coating

Window wash and grazing light pick up small differences in a surface, and so do sheen and viewing angle, so no finish level looks perfect in every light. When the target is hard to put into words, a sample area under the room's real lighting gives you and us one reference to agree on.

Separate new-board Level 5 from an existing-wall conversion

About seven in ten Chehalis homes were built before 1980, so a Level 5 request here may start from an older textured or patched wall instead of new board. Those are different jobs. Old coatings, loose areas and past repairs need prep first, and we price board finishing apart from removing or treating the old surface, then say whether paint stops at one wall or carries through the room.

Level 5 Drywall Finish questions in Chehalis

What makes Level 5 different from Level 4?

Level 4 finishes the joints, angles and fasteners. Level 5 adds a skim over every square foot of the board.

Will a Level 5 skim hide every joint under strong light?

It gives the best chance of that, but no finish level makes a surface invisible in every light and coating. Lighting, the paint and the work itself all count.
