Replace flood-cut board and finish the long wall edge
A flood cut can leave a long strip of missing drywall across a wall or several rooms. The cut edge stays visible after removal, and replacement should wait until the moisture source and needed drying or mitigation are handled.
Once the responsible provider completes the moisture work, Solis replaces the flood-cut board and restores the requested texture or finish. Carrying the new board through its edge treatment helps the repaired section meet the existing wall across the cut line.

- The long board edge carried into the wall finish.

Cut to the assessed line
A flood cut takes out a set lower band of drywall, and no one cut height fits every event. The line comes from how high the water went, the board's condition, the restoration plan and any project requirements, and we build back to that line.
Wait until the cavity is ready for replacement board
Cutting the drywall out doesn't dry the cavity. EPA's clean-water source notes the inside of a wall can dry more slowly than its face, and USG's guidance says damp panels shouldn't go up, so source control, drying and any required assessment come first.
Close the strip and finish to the existing wall
Once the area is released, we fit new board to the cut line, add backing where needed, tape it and feather it into the wall above, with texture or smooth finish and paint each on their own boundary. If the wall hasn't been surveyed, the Southwest Clean Air Agency's flow chart for Lewis County calls for an AHERA-certified survey before a contractor renovates, and any asbestos removal by a certified contractor waits 10 days after notice. Extraction, drying, mold work and contaminated-water cleanup sit outside put-back.

Flood-Cut Drywall Put-Back questions in Chehalis
How high should drywall be cut after a flood?
It depends on how far the water reached, the wall's condition, the restoration status and the project requirements. No one height suits every wall.
Does flood-cut drywall repair include drying the wall?
No. We start after source control and drying are finished and the cavity is ready. Drying belongs to the restoration company.
