Drywall
Drywall Installation in Western Washington
By the time the first coat of compound goes on, the wall is already either flat or it is not. Solis Interiors hangs gypsum board across Lacey, Olympia, and Tacoma, and removes the old board first where that is what the room needs.
Request an estimateRemoving the old board is part of the installation
A re-board usually means taking out what is there. We cut it back cleanly, check what the demolition exposes, and deal with the framing or insulation that turns up before new board goes on. The old material leaves in the same visit it comes down, and the room is left ready to hang rather than ready for another trade.
The board is chosen for the room
Moisture-resistant board belongs in a bathroom or a below-grade wall. Type X belongs where a rated assembly is specified. Ceiling board is heavier and spans differently from wall board. The drawings and the room decide which is which, and we confirm it before the order goes in rather than substituting whatever is on the truck.
Frequently asked questions
Questions & expert answers
Q1What the installation has to get right before anyone tapes▼
Framing gets checked for plane, board thickness and screw pattern are matched to the span and the finish, and backing goes in wherever something will hang later, because a towel bar or a television bracket is far cheaper to support now than to patch afterward. Where a long wall meets a different material, we plan the control joint instead of discovering it as a crack next winter.
Q2Do you install over the existing wall or remove it?▼
Both, depending on what is behind it. A second layer can be the right answer when the existing board is sound and the added thickness does not break a door reveal or a trim detail. Removal is the right answer when the board is damaged, wet, or hiding something. We look at the wall and the trim before recommending either.
Q3How long does a room take to hang?▼
A single bedroom is usually a day to hang and several more to finish, because the drying between coats sets the pace rather than the boarding. Whole floors and commercial interiors run on a sequence instead, and we will tell you the order we intend to work in before we start.

The process
Need drywall installed in a new or renovated room?
A short path from the first description of the problem to a clear next step.
Step 1 — Send the plans and wall conditions
Share drawings or photos, areas to be boarded or re-boarded, and any known substrate, backing, opening, or existing-finish details.
Step 2 — Clarify the specified assembly
If plans call for a particular board type, assembly, backing, or finish, include the relevant details. Design and code decisions should come from the project’s qualified designer or authority.
Step 3 — Confirm the finish handoff
Identify whether the estimate should include taping, texture or smooth finishing, surface preparation, or related coating work, and note any trade sequencing that affects access.
