Install drywall with the finished room in mind
New and renovated rooms can have different board, backing, opening, and finish requirements. When installation ends at bare sheets, seams, texture, smooth finishing, and primer preparation may be left for a separate handoff.
Solis installs drywall from the drawings and wall conditions, then carries board through taping and the selected finish. Connecting installation with finishing leaves the walls ready for their next preparation and coating work.
- Board installation follows drawings and wall conditions.
- Taping and selected finish carried with the installation.

Drywall installation in DuPont homes
When DuPont's homes were built shapes what is behind the wall and which rules apply to the work.
- 6% Before 1940
- under 1% 1940–1959
- 8% 1960–1979
- 24% 1980–1999
- 63% 2000 or later
- 2002Median year DuPont homes were built
Half of DuPont's homes were built before 2002 and half after. New walls in an existing home are finished to meet what is already there, so the home's age shapes the finish plan. U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024, median year structure built
- 62.5%of DuPont homes were built in 2000 or later
Newer homes are almost all drywall over wood framing, which keeps new work and the existing walls consistent. U.S. Census Bureau, 2020–2024 ACS 5-year estimates
Lay out rooms and all stopping points
Measurements and plans give us every wall and ceiling, and corners, soffits, stairs and openings decide how the sheets meet. We mark access points that stay open and areas left unfinished, since those edges change the panel layout and the joints we tape later.

Follow the specified assembly and board
Board type and wall construction come from your documents. For partitions with fire or sound requirements we need the full design reference before installation, because a general drywall scope can't tell anyone which layers and joints apply.
Set the finish level and decoration
Hanging can end before taping or run through joint finishing, texture, primer and paint. GA-214 describes the levels, from Level 4 joint treatment to the Level 5 full-face skim. Name your level and decoration and the estimate states the handoff.
Installation quote details
Include current plans, dimensions, the board specification, framing status, access openings and the finish schedule. Mark what stays open and whether we're carrying the job through taping, texture or paint. We list installation apart from those later steps.
