Install fire-rated drywall to the specified assembly
A fire-rated wall depends on the assembly shown in the project details, along with the sequence for framing and board work. Treating the board as a stand-alone item can leave installation steps disconnected from the design.
Solis installs the specified fire-rated drywall assembly from the project details and required sequence. Carrying the assembly notes into the board work keeps installation connected to the drawings and the surrounding construction.

Install the wall or ceiling system in the plans
A fire rating belongs to a tested, listed or approved assembly, never to a single board. The detail names the framing, panel type and layers, fastening, joints, insulation and edges. We install that detail as drawn.
Gypsum Association GA-600 fire-resistance and sound-control designs
Keep openings and penetrations coordinated
Doors, pipes, ducts, access panels and the head of the wall all affect the assembly. We carry our part through the handoff and note in writing where the firestop installer or the designer takes over.
Resolve assembly changes before closing the wall
If the field doesn't match the drawing, a layer, stud or fastener can't simply be swapped. The designer and the building official set the fix, and we hold the affected wall until they do. We don't certify code compliance; the inspection does.
Olympia permits and rated work
Olympia's permit guide lists building alterations among work that needs a permit, so a rated wall in a remodel usually comes with a permit and inspections. We schedule our hold points around those inspections.
Email the assembly and the inspection plan
Send the assembly number, the current plan revision and the inspection points. We'll quote each rated wall and ceiling separately.
Fire-Rated Drywall Installation questions in Olympia
Does fire-rated drywall mean the board alone has a fire rating?
No. Type X or Type C board is one part of a rated assembly, and the rating covers the whole assembly.
Can Solis choose an equivalent assembly?
No. Equivalents are for the designer and building official to approve. We build what they approve.
