Flood-cut drywall put-back in Thurston County and Nearby Communities

We put back flood-cut drywall in Thurston County and nearby communities, hanging new board along the open lower wall and taping, texturing and painting it to match the wall above. Once the leak is fixed and the restoration company has dried the cavity, we take the room from bare studs back to finished.

Replace flood-cut board and finish the long wall edge

A flood cut can leave a long strip of missing drywall across a wall or several rooms. The cut edge stays visible after removal, and replacement should wait until the moisture source and needed drying or mitigation are handled.

Once the responsible provider completes the moisture work, Solis replaces the flood-cut board and restores the requested texture or finish. Carrying the new board through its edge treatment helps the repaired section meet the existing wall across the cut line.

  • Flood-cut drywall replaced after moisture work.
  • The long board edge carried into the wall finish.

Here’s how we get it handled

  1. Text us photos or call

A close-up, a wider view and your city give us a useful starting point. You can also call and talk through the work.

  2. Agree the scope and schedule

We review the work with you, arrange a site visit where needed and put the agreed scope and finish in your estimate.

  3. Get the space finished

Solis completes the agreed work and reviews the finish with you. Include interior painting in the scope for a complete drywall-and-paint handoff.

What is included in flood-cut drywall put-back?

We hang new drywall in the strip the restoration crew removed, replace insulation where it came out and tape the long seam where new board meets old. Texture and paint follow, to the limits you pick. Baseboards, door casings and outside corners all cross that strip, so we plan where the new finish meets each one before we start. What you get is one interior repair that starts where the restoration handoff ends.

How is the open wall rebuilt?

We measure the cut, check that the board edges left above it are sound and fastened, and look at the studs and plates the cut exposed. New panels are fastened to the framing with the seam placed where it can be taped flat. A flood cut leaves one long horizontal joint across the room, and side light shows it unless the texture above is carried down over it. Fire-rated or sound walls go back to their listed assembly. The cut height comes from the restoration findings, so there is no standard put-back size.

When can the cavity be closed?

After the water source is fixed and the restoration company has finished drying or remediation. EPA guidance notes that the inside of a wall cavity can be harder to dry than the face you can see, and it treats swollen board or board with damaged seams differently from board that stayed intact. We close the wall from the restoration company's findings. Extraction, leak repair, drying and mold remediation stay with them. If a plumber, an electrician or an inspector still needs the open wall, that happens before we board it.

Bring the repaired wall through texture and paint

The new strip has to disappear under the finish on the wall above it. On a textured wall we carry the texture down across the seam; on a smooth wall we skim wide enough to hide the joint. Painting each wall to its corners gives the most even result, and painting only the replaced strip usually leaves a line. Text us photos of the open wall, its measurements and where the restoration work stands, and we'll quote the rest of the room.

Flood-Cut Drywall Put-Back questions

Does Solis decide how high every flood cut must be?

No. The restoration company sets the cut from what got wet and what it found inside the wall. We rebuild the opening they leave, at whatever height it is.

Is flood-cut put-back the same as all water-damage repair?

No. Put-back covers the open lower wall after a flood cut. Ceiling leaks, wet window walls and other damaged sections are water damage drywall repair, and drying, leak repair and remediation stay with the restoration company either way.
