Replace flood-cut board and finish the long wall edge
A flood cut can leave a long strip of missing drywall across a wall or several rooms. The cut edge stays visible after removal, and replacement should wait until the moisture source and needed drying or mitigation are handled.
Once the responsible provider completes the moisture work, Solis replaces the flood-cut board and restores the requested texture or finish. Carrying the new board through its edge treatment helps the repaired section meet the existing wall across the cut line.

- 50%The flood insurance program's substantial damage line
Under the flood insurance program, a home is substantially damaged when repairs cost 50 percent or more of its market value. Check floodplain rules before rebuilding. FEMA, the 50 percent rule (44 CFR 59.1)
- Before bidsWashington's asbestos inspection rule
Before work that could release asbestos, the owner or owner's agent has a good faith inspection done by an accredited inspector and gives the report to contractors before they bid. RCW 49.26.013 and WAC 296-62-07721
Separate put-back from water restoration
Extraction, drying, contamination testing and remediation are the restoration company's work, and if the water was sewage or floodwater, their guidance comes first. Before more wall comes out of an older house, check what's in it: the Southwest Clean Air Agency's flow chart has an AHERA-certified inspector survey suspect materials when a contractor renovates, and Washington law has the owner give that report to contractors before they bid.

Set the opening from documented conditions
EPA's clean-water guidance says intact drywall that hasn't swollen and still has sound seams can sometimes be dried in place, while swollen board or failed seams can require removal. It doesn't set a cut height. That comes from the water type, the actual materials and the restoration plan.
Rebuild when the cavity is released for work
Once the restoration provider releases the cavity, we match the opening to the framing and new board, follow the approved plan for insulation and vapor details, and finish the long seam above the cut so it doesn't show along the baseboard. Panels that were exposed to moisture follow the manufacturer's current guidance.
What the restoration team gives you
Send us the documented cut line, the drying sign-off, photos of each wall and the panel type if you know it. Tell us whether texture and paint belong in the price.
Flood-Cut Drywall Put-Back questions in Centralia
How high should drywall be cut after flooding?
There's no single height. Water type, the wall's condition, drying results and the restoration plan set the cut line.
Does flood-cut drywall work include mold remediation?
No. Remediation is its own qualified scope, and we rebuild after the cavity is confirmed ready.
