Texture matching that hides Lacey drywall patches

We use drywall texture matching in Lacey so a patched wall or ceiling looks like the rest of the room once it is painted. We copy the pattern's size, spacing and direction, then check the blend from where you would normally stand.

Blend a drywall repair into the existing texture

Orange peel, knockdown, and other textures vary in pattern and scale. A repaired spot can remain easy to see if its texture stops sharply at the edge instead of carrying into the surrounding field.

Solis repairs the damaged area, prepares the surface, and matches its existing texture by carrying its pattern scale and blend distance into the surrounding field. Repair and texture work together help the patch sit naturally against the wall or ceiling around it.

  • The repair carries into the surrounding texture.
  • Pattern and blend work stay with the damaged area.

Here’s how we get it handled

  1. Text us photos or call

A close-up, a wider view and your city give us a useful starting point. You can also call and talk through the work.

  2. Agree the scope and schedule

We review the work with you, arrange a site visit where needed and put the agreed scope and finish in your estimate.

  3. Get the space finished

Solis completes the agreed work and reviews the finish with you. Include interior painting in the scope for a complete drywall-and-paint handoff.

Carry the existing texture across the repair

After the patch is taped and dry, we apply texture to follow the surrounding pattern: the same splatter size for orange peel, the same flattening for knockdown, the same strokes for a hand texture. We look at the blend from across the room, since that is how you will see it, and adjust before it sets.

Why a photo from across the room matters

Texture names mean different things to different people, and a close-up hides the pattern's scale. A wide photo shows us how big the splatter is and which way it was troweled. If one room has two textures, such as a smooth wall and a sprayed ceiling, we match each one separately.

Prepare the repair before matching

Texture can't cover a patch that sits proud or a seam that is still cracking. We fix the board and the tape first, so the texture goes over a flat, sound surface. That is also why our quote lists the patch and the texture as two lines.

Agree the paint edge

New texture takes paint differently from old texture, even in the same color. Touching up only the patch often leaves a halo. We'll usually suggest painting the wall corner to corner, and we'll tell you when a touch-up will hold.

Matching sprayed ceilings in older Lacey homes

Sprayed ceiling texture was common before federal rules banned asbestos in spray-applied surfacing in 1978. About a fifth of Lacey's homes were built between 1960 and 1979. If yours is one of them and the ceiling has its original texture, we have it tested before we cut or scrape around the patch.

Text us the pattern

Send one photo close to the texture next to the damage and one from across the room. We'll tell you how we would match it and whether the wall should be painted after.

Drywall Texture Matching questions in Lacey

Can a small patch be matched exactly?

Close enough that you won't pick it out from across the room in most cases. Old paint and strong side light can still give it away, which is why we often paint the full wall.

Does texture matching include the drywall repair?

We usually do both. The patch and the texture are separate lines on the quote so you can see what each costs.
