Smooth walls for Lacey homes with old texture

We give Lacey homeowners a smooth wall finish over their existing textured drywall, so you get flat, modern walls without tearing out board that is still sound. We knock down loose texture, fill the low spots, skim and sand until the wall reads flat under paint.

Bring textured walls through to a smooth finish

Existing texture, old repairs, and uneven areas can remain visible after a paint change. Treating one spot alone can leave a transition where the newly smoothed patch meets the surrounding wall.

Solis prepares and skims the selected wall area for a smooth finish, accounting for existing texture, lighting direction, and paint sheen. Working across the surface keeps the finishing area connected and gives the room a consistent ground for its next coat.

Here’s how we get it handled

  1. Text us photos or call

A close-up, a wider view and your city give us a useful starting point. You can also call and talk through the work.

  2. Agree the scope and schedule

We review the work with you, arrange a site visit where needed and put the agreed scope and finish in your estimate.

  3. Get the space finished

Solis completes the agreed work and reviews the finish with you. Include interior painting in the scope for a complete drywall-and-paint handoff.

Prepare existing walls for a smoother paint surface

We scrape off texture that is loose, fill dents and old anchor holes, and build out low spots. Then we skim the wall, sand it and look at it in raking light before anything is painted. Your board stays where it is. We can stop at a corner, finish one accent wall, or carry the work through the whole room.

Older texture gets tested first

About a quarter of Lacey's homes were built before 1980. Federal rules didn't ban asbestos in patching compounds until 1977, so in a house that age we have the texture and joint compound tested before we sand. Newer Lacey houses, which are most of the city, rarely need that step.

Separate surface smoothing from new-board finishing

Smoothing an existing wall is a different job from finishing new panels to Level 4 or Level 5. On an old wall, the texture depth and past repairs set how many skim passes it takes. On new board, the finish level does. We quote each the way it is actually built.

Set the paint and lighting expectations

A smooth wall shows more than a textured one. Flat paint hides small waves; eggshell and satin show them. Tell us the sheen you want and whether a window throws light across the wall, and we'll say whether that wall needs an extra pass.

Start with one wall if you're unsure

If you want to see the result before committing a whole floor, we can smooth one wall first and you can paint it and live with it for a few days. Then we price the rest of the rooms at the same finish.

Send two photos of the texture

Text us one photo close to the wall and one from across the room. Add the year the house was built. That tells us the texture depth, whether testing comes first, and roughly how many passes the job needs.

Smooth Wall Finish questions in Lacey

Is smooth wall finishing the same as Level 5?

No. Level 5 is a finish level for new drywall. Smoothing works over your existing textured wall, and the texture decides how much skimming it takes.

Does smoothing include painting?

It can. We quote primer and paint as a separate line, for the smoothed wall only or for the whole room.
