Finish basement walls around utilities and room use
A basement can have utility access points, a history of water, and walls that need a finish suited to the planned room. Covering those details with board too early can put access or the finish plan out of step with the space.
Solis installs or repairs basement drywall around the existing construction, utility access, moisture history, and intended finish. With the room layout carried into board and finishing work, the completed walls can fit how the basement will be used.
- Drywall installed or repaired for the planned room.
- Utility access retained in the finished layout.

Basement drywall in Tenino homes
When Tenino's homes were built shapes what is behind the wall and which rules apply to the work.
- 17% Before 1940
- 12% 1940–1959
- 22% 1960–1979
- 21% 1980–1999
- 29% 2000 or later
- 1980Median year Tenino homes were built
Half of Tenino's homes were built before 1980 and half after. The estimate is wide here, about 9 years either way. New walls in an existing home are finished to meet what is already there, so the home's age shapes the finish plan. U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024, median year structure built
- 29.3%of Tenino homes were built in 2000 or later
Newer homes are almost all drywall over wood framing, which keeps new work and the existing walls consistent. U.S. Census Bureau, 2020–2024 ACS 5-year estimates
Map finished rooms and unfinished edges
A basement might hold a family room, a bedroom, a stair and a furnace corner, each with its own edge. We mark which walls and ceilings get board and where drywall stops, and we plan around access panels, soffits and posts so every edge is decided before the board goes up.

Dry framing first, then drywall
Drywall is the interior finish, and it can't stop water coming through a foundation. The wall build-up on your plans, and any moisture work it calls for, has to be in place first. If water is getting in or the framing is still damp, that gets fixed before we hang board, so a wall that isn't ready never gets closed up.
Choose a finish for each room
A rec room, a storage wall and a stair enclosure don't need the same finish. Tell us smooth or textured, whether ceilings are in, and which areas stay open. Where the ceiling height changes or meets an existing ceiling, we plan that line so the board and trim finish cleanly.
Quoting your basement
Text a floor plan or rough room sizes, the ceiling heights and a few photos of the framing. Mark the mechanical area, any access panels and anything staying unfinished. The quote lists hanging, taping, texture and paint as separate lines so you can choose how far we go.
Basement Drywall questions in Tenino
Can basement drywall include ceilings and stair walls?
Yes. Put them on the room list and show where they meet unfinished areas, and they go in the quote.
Does basement drywall solve moisture problems?
No. Drywall is a finish. The wall needs to be dry and built for the space before the board goes up.
