Fixing plaster walls and ceilings in Tenino

We do plaster repair in Tenino for walls and ceilings that have cracked, chipped or come loose, and we size each repair to how far the damage actually goes. A hairline crack, a broken corner and a section that has let go of the lath are different jobs, and we price the one you have.

Repair the plaster surface and its supporting layers

A crack or loose patch can extend past the visible face into the plaster layers beneath it. Filling only the mark can leave a weak edge and a noticeable transition where the repair meets the surrounding surface.

Solis repairs damaged plaster with its supporting layers and the surrounding finish in view. Carrying the edge repair into the nearby surface makes the transition part of the work, so the wall can move from damaged plaster back to a finished room.

  • Damaged plaster and its supporting layers repaired together.
  • The repair edge carried into the surrounding finish.

Here’s how we get it handled

  1. Text us photos or call

A close-up, a wider view and your city give us a useful starting point. You can also call and talk through the work.

  2. Agree the scope and schedule

We review the work with you, arrange a site visit where needed and put the agreed scope and finish in your estimate.

  3. Get the space finished

Solis completes the agreed work and reviews the finish with you. Include interior painting in the scope for a complete drywall-and-paint handoff.

Plaster repair in Tenino's older homes

Plaster was the wall surface for nearly all buildings until the 1930s or 40s, so many older Tenino homes still have plaster walls and ceilings rather than drywall. National Park Service, Preservation Brief 21: Repairing Historic Flat Plaster

Tell a surface crack from a larger failure

About one in six Tenino homes was built before 1940, when plaster was still the usual wall surface. We start by finding the edge of the damage. A stable hairline crack is a small repair. A bulge, a loose patch or several cracks running together means the plaster has lost its grip, and the repair grows to where it is sound again. If the surface moves when you press near the crack, tell us.

Restore the plane and match the surrounding finish

We fill or rebuild the damaged section, bring it flush with the wall around it and finish it to match. A textured plaster wall gets its pattern carried through; a smooth painted one gets a wide, feathered blend. Skimming an entire wall is a separate option, quoted on its own.

Plan for the paint boundary too

New plaster and old paint read differently even when the repair is flat. Paint can stop at the patch, run to a corner or cover the whole wall, and that choice goes in the quote. Old plaster usually carries old paint: Washington's lead renovation rules cover housing built before 1978 and apply when those layers are disturbed.

Getting a plaster repair quote

Text a close photo of the damage, one of the whole wall or ceiling, and the rough size. Tell us whether any part moves when pressed, and whether you want it primed, painted to the corner or painted wall to wall. The year the house was built helps too.

Plaster Repair questions in Tenino

Can plaster be repaired without redoing the full wall?

Usually. If the plaster around the damage is still firmly attached, we repair that area and blend it in. A large loose section can need a wider repair, and we tell you before quoting.

Does plaster repair include painting?

It can. We quote the paint separately and note whether it stops at the repair or covers the wall.
