Patching holes in Tacoma drywall
We do drywall patching in Tacoma for single holes, old access cutouts and other contained openings in gypsum board. We size the patch to the opening and its edges, back it where needed, and finish it into the wall or ceiling around it.

Patch the opening and blend it into the surrounding wall
An opening from access work or a damaged spot can leave a hard edge in an otherwise finished room. Replacing the missing board alone may leave the patch visible where its seam or texture meets the existing wall.
Solis patches localized drywall openings, prepares the seams, and blends texture or smooth finishing into the surrounding area. For a full room finish, Solis carries the repaired surface through primer and paint.

Half of Tacoma's homes were built before 1967 and half after. Send the year your home was built with your photos; it tells us what the walls and earlier patches are likely made of. U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024, median year structure built
- 64.3%of Tacoma homes were built before 1980
Asbestos was banned from wall patching compounds in 1977, so old patches and joint compound in these homes are tested before they are sanded. U.S. EPA, regulatory history of asbestos bans
- 1978Washington's lead-safe renovation cutoff
Washington's lead renovation rules cover housing built before 1978, and a firm must be certified to do paid renovation work under them. WAC 365-230-020 and 365-230-360
Define the opening and patch edge
A clean round hole, a jagged cutout and a broken edge next to a seam each get different prep. We note the size, the board thickness and whether there's framing behind to fasten to, then cut back to an edge that will hold tape and compound.
Carry the patch through its finish
The board patch is the small part. Tape, two or three coats, sanding, texture and paint are what make it blend. Tell us whether the quote stops at a patch ready for paint, includes texture, or paints the full wall or ceiling.

Use broader repair scope when needed
Cracks running along seams, loose board, or several holes close together make a repair job, and we price them as one area. A patch is one opening with a clear edge.
Patches in plaster walls
In older Tacoma houses the hole may be in plaster over lath, which takes a plaster patch. We do historic plaster work in the North End, Stadium and Proctor. Text a photo with a coin or a tape measure beside the hole, and mention any cable or pipe that runs through it.
Drywall Patching questions in Tacoma
Is drywall patching the same as drywall repair?
No. Patching closes one contained hole. Repair covers seams, damaged board or several spots across a wall.
Does a drywall patch include paint?
If you want it to. Paint on just the patch can show, so we'll often suggest painting the wall to the corners.
