Level 4 drywall finish for Tacoma projects

We apply a Level 4 drywall finish in Tacoma on new gypsum board where your plans or finish schedule call for it. It's a common finish for painted walls, and we talk through the paint, the lighting and how smooth you expect the wall to look before we start.

Carry the specified Level 4 finish across the listed walls

Plans may name Level 4 without making it clear which rooms or surfaces receive that finish. Lighting direction and the final paint sheen also affect how the walls look once the coating is on.

Solis applies the specified Level 4 finish to the project areas, carrying the walls through the named finishing stage. Keeping coating notes and light conditions in view connects the drywall finish to the room's next paint step.

Here’s how we get it handled

  1. Text us photos or call

A close-up, a wider view and your city give us a useful starting point. You can also call and talk through the work.

  2. Agree the scope and schedule

We review the work with you, arrange a site visit where needed and put the agreed scope and finish in your estimate.

  3. Get the space finished

Half of Tacoma's homes were built before 1967 and half after. New walls in an existing home are finished to meet what is already there, so the home's age shapes the finish plan. U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024, median year structure built

What does Level 4 describe?

GA-214 Level 4 covers joints, fasteners and corners with enough coats for flat paint, light texture or wallcovering. It belongs in the plans or finish schedule. It says nothing about fire or sound ratings and doesn't promise the same look under every light.

Keep Level 4 distinct from Level 5

Level 5 adds a skim coat over the whole panel face. We do Level 5 in Tacoma's high-end remodels and in view homes along Ruston Way, and we'll tell you if your walls are a case for it. Turning an existing textured wall smooth is a separate job from finishing new board to either level.

Coordinate lighting and decoration

Sheen, texture, window light and fixtures change how joints show. Glossy paint, or light grazing down a long hallway, can reveal a Level 4 joint, so we raise it before the paint is picked. Where a project uses a mock-up, we finish the sample first and agree the look on it.

Pricing a Level 4 job

Send the plans or finish schedule, room sizes, whether the board is hung, and the paint or texture. Name the walls and ceilings that share the Level 4 spec.

Level 4 Drywall Finish questions in Tacoma

Is Level 4 the same as a smooth-wall conversion?

No. Level 4 is a finish on new gypsum panels. A conversion skims an existing textured wall, which is more work.

Does Level 4 guarantee a uniform appearance under every light?

No finish level does. If the wall gets strong side light or glossy paint, ask us about Level 5.
