Choose removal or a covering finish
Scraping takes the texture off and exposes the joints, old repairs and dips it was hiding. A skim over the texture, or new board, is a different route when the ceiling and the rules allow it. We compare the result you want with the ceiling you have before recommending one.
Survey and clearance in Pierce County
Only about one DuPont home in seven was built before 1980, and EPA banned asbestos in spray-applied decorative surfacing in 1978, but an older ceiling still gets tested. In Pierce County the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency requires a survey by an AHERA-certified inspector before renovation unless the owner lives in the single-family house, which brings rentals and shared buildings in. Testing and abatement are specialist work, and our scope begins once the ceiling is cleared for finishing.
